Noah Smith 🐇🇺🇸🇺🇦🇹🇼 (@Noahpinion): More data to back up the notion that Millennials, more than previous generations, think about college in terms of what job it can get them.
Things are a lot more precarious for us, financially (well I’m Gen Z, but I predict the trend will continue). It’s no longer a ticket into the middle class.

Bad Econ Takes (@BadEconTakes):
Currently majoring in Econ. To be charitable, I think there’s a case to be made that teaching perfect competition as the implicit default actually is sorta unfairly pro-free market. Like maybe oligopoly should be chapter 1 instead.

I agree, but I don’t think the avg person coming out of Econ 101 thinks of it that way.

James Miller (@JimDMiller): @robertwiblin Amazon, as people want to avoid stores.
Even with supply chain disruptions galore, limiting supplies of products? I think any physical detail will be harmed.

Do you have a positive argument as to why consciousness doesn’t collapse the wave function? I can’t pretend to understand it but apparently David Chalmers thinks it’s plausible.

Best line: “The Federalist is extending the fight w/ a planned “1620 Project” about the anniversary of the Mayflower Landing at Plymouth Rock. (This plan is already inviting its own correction request, since Plymouth Rock is not actually the site of the Pilgrims’ first landing.)”

Josh Barro (@jbarro): we should protect children, for example, by vaccinating them
(quoting @marwilliamson: The point isn’t just to elect a woman per se as important as that is. The most important thing is a woman’s primary concerns: to protect children- which must mean everyone’s child & not just our own; and take care of our home- which today means the home we share, or earth itself.)
These dunks on her are pretty unfair. Where does she argue against vaccination? It’s a meme that isn’t true.

It’s an interesting synthesis of quasi-mystical/spiritual language attempting to capture sensations that are not easily represented symbolically, and precise, kinda scientific sounding language to signal rigor and skepticism.

I predict a continued rise in the clout and legitimacy of online bloggers/intellectuals a la Slate Star Codex and Marginal Revolution

I think there’s an important distinction between being able to capture the monetary/prestige that one deserves from online work and being regarded as a legitimate resource. Your argument seems stronger against the former than the latter. 1/

Guy (@nosilverv): @SamoBurja @AaronBergman18 Is legitimacy acquired only via entryism? Can't we all rep each other and overbroadcast other sourceS?
Honestly I have no idea what this means.

World Health Organization (WHO) Western Pacific (@WHOWPRO): If you do not have any respiratory symptoms, such as fever, cough, or runny nose, you do not need to wear a medical mask. When used alone, masks can give you a false feeling of protection and can even be a source of infection when not used correctly. ➡️https://bit.ly/2QN3QOp
I mean it’s probably true that they should be reserved for doctors and nurses, but do you really have to just lie to the public?
