Erin Siegal McIntyre (@ESMcIntyre): Detainees at Otay Mesa Detention Center were offered masks, but only if they signed contracts - “When the women demanded masks, they were threatened w/pepper spray, according to the multiple accounts.”
Excellent reporting by @bgirledukate https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/news/immigration/story/2020-04-10/otay-mesa-detention-center-gets-masks-but-asks-detainees-to-sign-contract-first

Aella (@Aella_Girl): Are you autistic? || If you press the button, no person with autism is ever born again (or become autistic through other means), though existing people are left unchanged. Do you press the button?
I legit don’t understand why people are angry about this tweet.

Aella (@Aella_Girl): People are mad at this, but I don't understand. The results feel like a great argument for (at least some level of) autism. If people *with* autism are much more likely to prefer it continue than people without, then this strikes me as a great pro-autism argument.
(quoting @Aella_Girl: Are you autistic? || If you press the button, no person with autism is ever born again (or become autistic through other means), though existing people are left unchanged. Do you press the button?)
Heavy selection bias: autists who follow you on Twitter are probably not a representative sample.

Agree with the first two sentences but disagree with the last one. IMO it’s obvious signaling but is pretty benign.

Can’t tell for sure, but sounds like the argument is that any paper that passes review should be published, because the opinions of the authors don’t matter. Not 100% sure I agree, but sounds plausible. Like there should be a reason beyond “hoax” intentions to retract a paper.

Mason (@webdevMason): It's rarely if ever noticed by pro-worker advocates that compulsory schooling produces, at high cost, totally fungible labor w/ zero leverage. There's no real reason that every grad doesn't have one of 100s of trainable trade skills to fall back on after 12 years in state schools
Really interesting. I wonder why this type of idea hasn’t really permeated progressive thought. I could imaging a pretty compelling narrative about how billionaire CEOs love the current education system because it deprives workers of leverage.

Aella (@Aella_Girl): Can someone both be a kind person and also hold the exact opposite of your political views?
Can someone be pro-slavery and also be a kind person? Why are most people voting yes?
